The ICC World Twenty20 2009
The groups are fixed by the ICC based on the positions the teams finished in the 2007 tournament in South Africa because not enough T20’s are played to calculate the rankings of the teams. On paper, Australia is placed in the toughest group with West Indies and Sri Lanka.Thees groups were discussed with the England Board after their request for the same, to allow it to proceed to their biddings for the sponsors.
